Supervising Social Worker

Duties and Responsibilities of the Supervising Social worker:

  • To safeguard and protect children/young people in accordance with Next Stage for Fostering policies and procedures at all times.
  • To assist in the recruitment and assessment of Foster Carers
  • To manage, supervise, support and train, the required case load, of approved Foster Carers in line with agency requirements.
  • To work closely with the Referral and Placement Team and Local Authorities to ensure each child/young person referred is appropriately matched to a skilled fostering family.
  • To establish positive relationships with children/young people and to be an effective participate in the team around the child/young person.
  • To ensure appropriate records are kept, in line with Agency Policy, on all work undertaken.
  • To be proactive in your own personal development, with engagement at supervision, appraisal, and training. To be a team player and respond and contribute to the Agency developments.
  • To be able to flexibly and outside core hours when the needs arise; this includes inclusion in the ‘out of hours’ Social Work duty rota.

Requirements of the Supervising Social Worker

  • Enhanced satisfactory DBS
  • A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree/Diploma)
  • Registered with Social Work England
  • At least 2 years’ post qualifying experience working with children/young people looked after
  • Experience of working within a fostering team.
  • Experience of working within a childcare local authority social work team
  • A knowledge of Ofsted requirement and the current legislation and frameworks relevant to Children’s Social Care and fostering
  • Excellent organisational, time management and IT skills
  • To have a full current driving licence and use of a car.

What’s on offer

  • Full time (37.5 hours) Permanent position
  • Salary Scale – £26,000 – £36,000 dependant on experience.
  • Car mileage paid in line with Inland Revenue guidance.
  • Annual leave 25 days plus public holidays
  • Location – Office base 28, Manchester Road, Bolton, BL5 3QJ

Independent Form F Assessors

We are seeking experienced Independent Assessors to undertake fostering assessments using the CoramBAAF Form F paperwork for prospective Foster Carers in all areas of the North West.

A relevant social work qualification and registration with the HCPC is essential.
